PracticeForces hosted its first Cyber Security Seminar on June 6 at the company headquarters in Clearwater Florida. It was a capacity audience, drawing medical professionals from around the Tampa Bay region.
The event was successful thanks to the two guest speakers – a global cyber security specialist with several years of field experience working with government agencies around the world. And, Michael McCoy, with HiTech Compliance Associates, HIPAA regulation specialists.
The cyber security specialist presented actionable tactics on how to avoid or mitigate damage from cyber threats. He shared case studies of actual cyber criminals, their methods, and how their criminal actions led to their capture.
Mr. McCoy presented new regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI) related to medical practices. He reviewed the legal implications and monetary fines imposed on medical practices. Mr. McCoy also presented case studies demonstrating the potential harm to small businesses’ reputations in the modern technological world.
“Compliance in healthcare is not just about following rules. It's about ensuring the health and safety of every individual entrusted to our care." Parul Garg – PracticeForces / CEO
